I was wondering about this the other day and thought I'd bring it to the forums...

Would you be open to or opposed to firings at the DII level and would it improve or take away from the level of competition at the DII? Also would it improve the competition at the highest level by making it just a little bit harder to get there?

I'd be in favor of it, but have a bit lower bar than at D1.
It's probably pretty unworkable though. It seems you can be pretty bad for a long time at D2 and still go up to D1 so long as you've put in the seasons ($). But then those coaches inevitably get fired at D1.

I don't see the purpose of D2 firings really. There always is going to be a couple schools that are bad in a conference and its not like there is BCS level jobs out there people want to get to.

I would suggest in exchange of firings a option to where if they were going to get fired they would give you a warning you might be let go but someone would have to apply for your job and meet a higher standard than normal.

That is an interesting spin Schroedess. It might even make the idea more palatable from a marketability standpoint.

The reason I thought of it in the first place is that I was looking at ways to combat Ghostship teams, i.e. player buys a ten pack gets a couple seasons in and then bails on the game and now the conference is faced with a team that will be a disaster and cannot be taken over by another coach for 8 more seasons.

Obviously you can't fire at DIII but I thought maybe at DII it'd be viable. I also thought it might kick up the level of competition on the DII level by making it just a bit harder to stay there if you're not a very good coach.
