It looks as if there have been a few opportunities to join new worlds. Was curious to know why I am not seeing advertisement for this, or why I am being purposefully ignored for any opportunities. I know I am not an involved member of the community like some others on here, but I feel that I should have an equal right to play in any world possible.

But seriously, private worlds are just that - private. Which means the creators of the worlds get to choose who they want to join. The only "equal right" you get is to join any public worlds, and WIS has not created and probably will not create any new public worlds for a long time.

There are very tight controls on creating new worlds.

A couple of years back we had terrible supply/demand problems because people were getting a little nuts about creating new worlds, and it got to a point where they couldn't fill because of all the one-and-done's.

We've reached a nice balance point now.

And I agree with everything that is being said -- even about nobody liking me. Was just hoping that someone could provide insight on what it would take for a veteran like me (who is not really a regular on the forums, but I do consider myself pretty active in the worlds I participate in) to get the opportunity to join a new world when/if it becomes available.

Keep your eye on the Classifieds forum. That's where the recruiting happens.

ratatat, I struggled with the decision in Powers. I realize that real life stuff came up, but at the time that we were filling you still had at least one team on auto pilot, and just before that had a team pulled for abandonment, and concerns were raised by other league members. I did consider you for a replacement slot, but had a better candidate.

Those facts, and the fact that you have tons of teams all added up against you. One of the requirements WIS has for all members of new worlds is that you cant drop your existing teams to join. I dont think you could have reasonably committed to that based on just losing a team and our sitemail exchanges.

For the other worlds--I know one didnt advertise at all. I havent looked to see if it started yet or not. There is another one being advertised in the live forums which Im sure you saw that may start in the beginning of June.

I know I was wishy washy on your inclusion, and apologize for that, but as more concerns were raised by, I had to move you down the priority list.

I've tried showing interest, even after your 'wishy-washy' process that eventually had me outside looking in, but you never replied, so in a way I felt like I was being black-balled for reasons I am not sure of. I stand by my decisions, as you obviously do. I guess I was just more burned to find out that, even though I was initially in, then overturned, you had 2 chances to include me on a team that has been abandoned before the season even started, and you didn't even bother to respond. That's why I feel that, unless you are the privileged few who spend an obscene amount of time on the forums getting to know other owners, than you stand just below a snowball's chance in h-e-double hockey sticks of getting into such a rare opportunity such as been presented in Kenny Powers, and now Billy Beane world.

I gave the team to moose08. I had never been aware of him before he posted in the thread. He only had a couple teams, a good history. One of his teams is in Cooperstown. And I know that league is strict in who is allowed in. So he doesnt fit the profile of who you think Im letting in. I prefer at this point to add owners that I dont have a history with, all else being equal.

I'm thinking the soft sell isn't your strong point.

dmurphy -- I have no history with you, and I am not going to hold a grudge against you because of how things were handled. In the end, it is just simulation sports, meant for everyone to have fun. No stranger is going to impact my decision going forward about this game. I love it and will continue to pour needless money into it to play it. Addictive, I am, to say the least. One final response is that I don't believe you and I have been in a world together, so you really don't have a history with me. You went off of other people's opinions and concerns. I am in no way bashing or criticizing you or the people. My only concern is that it was handled without due process.



And, to prove that I am a newbie to all non-classified forum details -- I didn't even know that there were talks of another new world starting in June. Could you link the post where I could look? Greatly appreciated. I will look and see if I can find on my own, but would appreciate any help.

death -- I am nowhere NEAR a good saleperson. I spend too much time programming and playing these games to have good communication skills.

No we really dont have a history. It does show Ive played against you, but I dont know what world. The key is 'all else being equal'. All else wasnt equal when deciding between you, moose08 and a couple others. There were also players I could have chosen from that I have an extensive history with that are great owners. I didnt open it up to them.
