Weird happening in the PM2 game tonight. Abraham Orie , listed as my SP5 and scheduled to pitch in the AM game tomorrow, pitches 2.1 IP in relief. And that's with a LR and 2 SU guys available and at 100%. What gives?

torrone -- the only thing I can think of is if Orie was checked for relief or not. You can determine this by going to Manager's Office -> Player Settings -> Edit Player Settings. There is a column called 'Relief' that should be checked if you intend to use the pitcher for relieve and blank if the pitcher is to be used to start. If you recently changed Orie to SP5 without going to Player Settings to uncheck his 'Relief' box, he will still come in to relieve if the situation calls for it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, but I believe his rotation designation should override that. Besides, there were 3 other guys with defined relief roles at 100% that he could have chosen from. There was absolutely no reason to put Orie in that game. BTW, 'Iron Man' Orie pitched 6 strong innings for the win in his start this AM.

What 'should' happen and what does happen are 2 totally different things. Sim will put a pitcher in that best fits the scenario. So if Orie is set in the Player settings as relief to come in any time after the 4th and no one else is set to those standings, then Orie will come in.

As a rule, it is just best to make sure that you update the Player Settings when you adjust your rotation, to make sure this doesn't happen.

Check the "inning available" settings, too.

I am aware that it 'can' happen. I have just never seen it before. I would have thought that the pitchers actually designated to come in in that situation would have taken precedence over one scheduled to start the next game, specially since they were all at 100% fatigue.

Torrone, having the 'Relief' box accidentally checked has made this exact thing happen to me. A couple of times. It's annoying, but it seems that's the way it works.
