I don't like him, personally. His fielding isn't nearly good enough to make him a great defender so throwing that aspect out, he'll need to be a good hitter. His contact rating is obviously great but his rating versus righties (who he will face 2/3 of the time) is atrocious. Basically he will make contact every time if he's facing a pitching machine but put him out there against a righty pitcher and he will always struggle. Even against ies, honestly, he'd have to hit his projection of 60 to even be passable, since that 42 power isn't doing him any favors either. He just isn't a player I would ever entertain putting into my lineup unless he was a deadly fielder. He won't hit well enough, he won't get on base enough. For a rebuilding team he might make a respectable stopgap at his peak.

His only plusses are speed and contact. 25th man on the roster or AAAA player, depending on whether you want a PR or a glove in that slot.

I think he projects to be a decent bench player, but nothing more than that.

I see him struggling to OPS .700 against righties, which makes him unplayable as a COF. Against ies, he could on-base somewhere around .350 or .360, which is pretty solid, especially combined with the fact that he will be excellent on the basepaths.

Overall though, he's the type of guy you throw on your bench as a pinch-runner or occasional substitute in RF against a y, pay him his 3 pre-arb years and then let him walk.

You're a **bit** worried about a guy with a vR of 29???

Can I play in your leagues?

He's not anything great. If he's right handed he's going to be very bad against righties.

I would consider him as a right field platoon player, only playing against ies. his great contact combined with his speed will in fact increase his bating average (more infield hits) and his effectiveness in picking up extra bases and steals. He is not a regular but I would take the guy on the bench of most of my teams (assuming he reaches his projections)

What is this AAAA you speak of?

Check out Curt McMichael.

Almost identical ratings when he was a prospect coming up, only discernible difference I notice is that the VsL and VsR are flip flopped.

McMichael has played RF the majority of his career and has enjoyed an obp of 350, which isn't spectacular, but when you consider his 100 stolen bases per year, his singles/walks/bunts/fc's almost always turn in to doubles.

I don't think your guy will be a star, but I think he could give you a great platoon/220 AB per year option in right or field.

A guy who is too good for AAA but not good enough for the ML.

Having that 60 against righties instead of ies is a pretty big deal IMO.

And usually bounces back and forth between the two until he runs out of options.
