Manager getting tossed Topic

I think most owners agree that temper and patience are pretty secondary ratings when evaluating players..

Was playin with the defensive rep aggressiveness and came across the manager argumentative rating. If a manager gets tossed could it "fire" up a team and maybe give a temporary ratings boost?

If so, thoughts on if a high temper team or low temper one would benefit more from their manager getting tossed?

i was thinking about this the other day...my first premise is there has to be a reason for the argumentative setting...second, i believe that the "ratings boost" theory has been discredited, but i can't be positive about this

my theory is: if you set your argumentative rating high, the manager will come out quicker to intervene in a dispute between a player and an umpire, thus keeping a high temper player from getting ejected

this is pure speculation

I do believe that the boost during the next half inning was confirmed via dev chat. We had tis discussion in world chat about a week ago. If I can find the dev chat I will post it.

couldnt find the answer in dev chat. It could have been a ticket that someone quoted. If I have time I'll try to dig it up. Someone else will probably come up with a better answer in the meantime.

The help says, they get the half inning boost if the manager argues a call or something to that effect but stays in the game. If he gets tossed, the bench coach comes In and the the game is then coached with balanced or default ratings. Thus a disadvantage.

If I can find it again I'll post it.

General Description - From this page, you may set the tendencies of you manager at each level. In simulated game play, these settings are used to make managerial decisions. For example, if you set your manager's argumentative rating to a five he is highly likely to contest a call at a pivotal point in the game. In this case, if he argues the call his players immediately receive a ratings boost for that half inning. However, if he is ejected, the bench coach must take over for the remainder of the game. Bench coaches use the default neutral managerial settings. Also, having an argumentative manager will increase the player's temper rating. There are positives and negatives associated with every tendency. Users are recommended to choose the brand of baseball they most believe in and stick to it. Changing managerial settings often is not recommended as consistency fosters player development

The above is from the help.

Mitch hit it on the head. As a manager who uses an aggressive argumentative setting, there have been some late inning rallies stemming from ejections. I have also seen the bench coach make a few moves as a result of the default settings being used that would normally not have been made.

Holy crap - I never realized that you got a ratings boost from arguing calls. Fascinating.

sergei, can you give me an example of a questionable move that your bench coach made after your manager got ejected?

"hey kid, grab a bat" -- Bench Coach, "bu, but I'm only 14" -- Kid, "it's your turn now get" -- BC, "Coming to the plate to hit for John 'the home run God' Blutarsky is little Wormer, the bat boy" -- PA Announcer.

(Kahrtmen I am sure you saw my response to you via TC in the Jaha World over the weekend)

As Mitch stated though, I have seen some odd ph ab's occur. The most notable being a position player ph for my starting C, after my backup C was used as a PH'er in a prior inning. I only had two players that could play C on my squad (only had two players listed as C on the position checklist). Needless to say the game did not end and a position player was now my C. I lost the game on 2 sb's the next half inning. My new "catcher" allowed a runner to swipe 2nd and 3rd and get into scoring position with 1 out. I lost on a sac fly...

There are other examples also, but this one is one I remember most.

Almost every dumbass move on my teams have been made after the manager was ejected. I usually have to look around but I'll have C in CF and go "WTF???" Then, after looking deeper, my manager was ejected in the 3rd.

For those who have said the bench coach makes terrible decisions: what are your bench coach's strategy ratings like? Do you largely ignore that rating when hiring a bench coach like I'm sure many do, or are your guys' ratings in the mid-80's-to-90's? I'm legitimately curious.

Most of the time I have a pretty solid bench coach in terms of strategy (80's).
