As part of my ongoing experiment with my NL bullpen/pinch hitting settings, I have been messing with my BP setup to find the best way to maximize my better pitchers and limit the bottom guys innings. So I will pose the question, how do you set up yours?

I like to make sure my pitchers are distributed between SP/RP roughly 66/33, meaning basically, in my top 3 rated pitchers, 1 is SP, 2 is SP, and 3 is RP ( or however works best).

My BP is setup so my top 3 RP are SUA ( I believe they are favored over LRA) and can come in 6th inn. and pitch 2-4 innings, getting a save if nessisary, or holding a close game for the closer. RPs 4/5 are usually SUBs, set the same as SUAs to eat innings in a blowout. The last rated pitcher is set as LRA, to handle aborted starts and hopefully eat up the rest of the game, or at least stay in until the SUB can finish up.

Does the reasoning seem right? As in, is SUA favored over LRA? And does this get the most good innings out of my top 3 RPs, or is there a better way?

My SuA get the most innings but I have my SuB going in the game earlier. I don't want them pitching the last innings of a game if I can help it.

But generally I will have 1 SuA , 2 SuB, and a closer. 1 LR. 1MU. At times I'll go with a 2nd SuA in lieu of a LR.

Understand with 3 SuA's, if they all stay rested -- the same guy will come out to pitch all the time. Which is why I usually stay away from multiple SuA.

In Powers I have 2 SUA, one set as available in the 6th with 15-20 pc, one for the 7th who I generally want pitching two innings--set to 30-35 pc, and my closer. It has been working like a charm. I occassionally have to tweak based on fatigue. I have an rp who I have been underutilizing that I can float between the roles--he's set up as available in the 5th now..now as a 3rd SUA. So as long as my starters make it to the 5th, Im covered with my best bullpen pitchers for the rest of the game--unless one gets shelled and it will go to one of my B guys. My lr guys only come in if something goes horribly wrong in the first 4 innings.

That is basically what I am shooting for. I would ideally like to have my 1/2 RP mainly pitching game 1,2, and 4 with the top 3 SPs, and the 3rd RP going in 3 and 5 with the 4/5 pitching tandem. But for simplicity, I am trying 3 SUAs and letting simmy pick who comes in.
