As part of my ongoing experiment with my NL bullpen/pinch hitting settings, I have been messing with my BP setup to find the best way to maximize my better pitchers and limit the bottom guys innings. So I will pose the question, how do you set up yours?
I like to make sure my pitchers are distributed between SP/RP roughly 66/33, meaning basically, in my top 3 rated pitchers, 1 is SP, 2 is SP, and 3 is RP ( or however works best).
My BP is setup so my top 3 RP are SUA ( I believe they are favored over LRA) and can come in 6th inn. and pitch 2-4 innings, getting a save if nessisary, or holding a close game for the closer. RPs 4/5 are usually SUBs, set the same as SUAs to eat innings in a blowout. The last rated pitcher is set as LRA, to handle aborted starts and hopefully eat up the rest of the game, or at least stay in until the SUB can finish up.
Does the reasoning seem right? As in, is SUA favored over LRA? And does this get the most good innings out of my top 3 RPs, or is there a better way?
