Although nothing directly; I would assume with the new recruit generation and the importance placed on the individual matchups the way each defense works generally should change, no?

Yes I am sure it has changed. Seble basically said that he re-wrote the entire engine.

It is difficult to fully tell with some days not games and others 5 games so you cannot change settigns to watch the results. But since I mostly set it and forgot it I could see little difference then how I performe now due to the press. You need spd and def still doesnt matter in d2

If nothing else, the way offense has run has changed, so you can't just get all your guards based on speed and ATH - meaning there will be less teams that can just load up on fast guards and press you to death. .hopefully.

Well I hope that is not the case; if I want to load up at ATH and SPD, at the expense of PER and PA and make my team a defence first team, that should be my choice.

Really? You think its good that an offense full of mediocre guards who can't pass or shoot can beat a more talented but somewhat less athletic team in the current engine? Right now a very good passing, ball handling, and shooting team with average speed and athleticism will lose to a very fast and athletic team with average ball handling and below average passing and perimeter, all other things being equal. You want the track stars to consistently beat the basketball players?

It can be your choice to load up and make your team a defense first team with no offense. YOu just might have a problem beating teams who take a more balanced approach.

I actually think even in real life if 1 team dwarfs the other in athleticism and speed and are average in the skill areas they would win a pretty large % of the time. For example I'm sure if the UCONN's women's team played the best boys high school team in the country they would lose a good % of the time despite being more skilled because the high school team would be so much faster and more athletic.

i am skeptical about this. very good per, bh, pass avg ath spd vs very good spd/ath with avg bh and poor per pass... i think it is fairly close. it really depends on the particulars, speed is by far the most important attribute for guards and ath is way up there for bigs (with reb, way ahead of the rest). at least in the press. so if you have way more spd in guards and way more ath in bigs, then the high ath/spd team probably has the edge. but if its more evenly distributed, the avg ath/spd team probably has the edge.

Just look how close OKC took the Lakers if you want to talk althleticism and speed vs good fundamentals.

"Individual matchups" won't really work against the press, because of the constant doubleteam issue.

Am I the only one who thinks it is ridiculous that the UCONN women would lose to a HS team?
