When you look at team fielding stats, the number of double plays per team is actually not accurate. Every player that is involved in a double play gets credit for that DP. So, when there is a 6-4-3 double play, the SS, 2B, and 1B all get credit for one DP and the team total increases by 3, even though there was only 1 DP turned. This makes it look like there are 2-3 times as many double plays as there really are.

Is there any way to determine how many double plays were actually turned by each team?

It would also be nice to know how many of those DPs were GIDPs vs. lineouts or SO-CS, but I don't think that data is available anywhere. I know WiS tracks GIDPs because the GIDP stats are listed in the World Snapshot.

Awesome, thanks. I guess there is no way to tell how that compares with the rest of the league though.
