Just discovered a significant issue with World Knight. It appears that an error after yesterday's games caused player ratings to change incorrectly. We're working to recover the correct ratings.

To be fair to all teams, today's games will be replayed. It will take a while for me to get everything corrected, so most likely I'll push back games by one day.

I sincerely apologize for these problems and hope that everyone understands.

If everyones ratings were effected why replay the games?

I'm saying this because we have won and making travel plans to the Final Four.

Might as well make it best 2-out-of-3.

i thought i was going crazy, my guys lost rating points while sitting and watching the games on tv. I told them not to drink so much beer.

You're re-running tournament games? Faux Pas!

I can't say im a huge fan of allowing teams that lost get a second chance to adjust the game plan

I'm against re-running games period...thems the breaks...but when the tournaments are going on, really?

The ratings looked normal to me last night... were the stats for all teams not affected or was I just not paying attention?

I'm against the rerunning as well. Of course, I may be biased because I won my games. I figure I'd have the same opinon if I lost... maybe...lol

Are both the sweet 16 and elite 8 nt games being re-run, or just the elite 8?
5/26/2010 5:24 PM
since I won, i am against re-running the games. But it does seem stupid to let the other team re-gameplan knowing the outcome of the last time.

Also its not like the ratings were massively adjusted. My team lost 7 total points from 572 to 565. Not a huge deal if it happened to everyone.

Also it only affected 24 teams as the games that were played were the elite 8 games.

I think the reason people were concerned is that they were afraid it only happened to their team. Knowing it happened to everyone i could care less that it actually gets fixed.

Also, should I gameplan for the sweet sixteen opponnent, my elite 8 opponent, or my final four opponent? I am confused as well.

I lost today in the Elite 8. I'm going on the premise that its because the rating we screwed up. I'm all for rerunning the games. And if I lose in the elite 8 again..... games should be rerun a 3rd time.

The problem I see is A. when ran the first time in which both teams lost points it was an equal ground. B. Now if they are rerun the team that won is actually at a disadvantage, it lets the losing team make adjustments where the winning team has to make the choice of do I adjust or do I let it ride since it worked the first time. Also, in a close game where a game might be 60/40, if it swings the other way this time their will be some unhappy people.

if there is a way we could just rerun mbalding's games and have his team somehow get knocked off (maybe just move them to D-II) I would be all for it.
5/26/2010 5:49 PM
Selfishly, I agree why rerun games. A few ratings points would likely not have a material affect on outcome but letting someone re-adjust their gameplan after seeing actual results COULD have a material effect!!
