So if the player is considering just you after a drop/pulldown, and you offer him a scholarship and he says this:

Coach, it's down to a handful of schools - you're on my very short list. I just can't say yes right now until I've made my final campus visits. At it stands right now, you're my top choice though.

What does that mean? I'm almost out of money (aka not enough for a CV and to offer someone else a scholarship, by less than 100 dollars of course) and I'm deciding what to do with my last scholarship, i've got two others considering just me that i think all i need to do is offer them a scholarship and they'll sign...decisions, decisions

Is he worth minutes or even a start?

This is bad advice, sorry.

no...would be my 3rd string PG

well i mean i guess fulfilling something like 15 minutes wouldn't be too hard to do

unless he's considering someone else, he will sign with you. Don't offer minutes if you can't afford to give them. Getting a 3rd string freshman 10 minutes a game is harder than you think.

It means You are winning, but not by much.

Horrible advice by pumphead. If a recruit is only considering you he will sign with you 100% of the time. Promising that recruit minutes is stupid.

Also when recruiting a player, a scholly offer should be the very first thing that you offer them. There is absolutely zero reason to withhold offering a scholarship if it is a player that you really want to sign.

I decided against the minutes thinking he'd sign at 2, and sure enough...he did. So it worked out, just was a little confused by that response to a scholarship offer to someone considering just me, but it ended up not mattering anyway...thanks for the suggestions

Mea culpa, I overlooked the lone consideration part.
