Which player to offer schollie to? Topic

Should I go with a below average shooting guard with a 90 work ethic (didn't get his state in FSS) or an above average SF with a 40 we. He projects high in athleticism and stamina and average in everything else.

If I had to chose only between those 2, I would definitely take the SF. I would never consider a DII SG with a 22 Per unless his scouting trip feedback said "sky's the limit" or some other message that indicated that he has unlimited potential in that skill. I would also be concerned with the SFs 15 durability. In the new engine, both injuries and recovery time are based on durability. I would seriously consider looking elsewhere before I took either of them if I thought there was a chance of doing better.

As Weena said definitely the SF, he has the potential to be pretty solid while the SG does not.

Ya I seem to be having difficulty with the recruiting... I feel neither is great but can't get anyone better interested...

The SF is far superior. ATH/SP/REB/LP/PER & equal in BH. All the SG has is DEF/PASS/ST

Well I guess I was just wondering how much an impact the high WE would have and if it would close the gap and make him a better player come senior year. I don't have any practical experience with the effect of work ethic.

We nowadays just shows you how fast a player will reach his max ratings not if he will.

Anyone above a 40 WE will max out during their JR season it seems. so Personally I treat any WE of above 40 as basically the same.

A We in the 20's or lower is so low that a player may not hit the maximum ratings in certain categories. You have to be carefull with these players as they may not improve even to justifiy a scholarhip even if their starting ratings are ok.

Also the higher a WE a player is more likely to improve in the off-season while a player with a low WE will likely not improve, or may even lose points. These improvements (or regressions) are usually minor though.

I agree with mbalding. WE only impacts how quickly a player will reach his potential not how high that potential can climb. Also WE plus HS GPA determines how quickly IQ will grow. A high WE is nice to have but only in that regard.

But, the maxing out thing is with the old engine, right?

One of the things the new engine does is slow down growth ... so the "Max Out Everything" by junior season may or may not still be true.
