Well, he's playing a *ton* of minutes (35+ per game), so I would imagine that helps.

I'm also guessing at least a couple categories were high potential ones?

I'm brand new at this, so am sure I am not maximizing my own guys yet, but I have one guy who has improved 17 total (2 exhibitions and 5 games in) and a bunch who are around 12-15 (I have 6 freshman). So 20, while very good, seems reasonable to me based on my own guys, but I don't know if it would be considered so in the past/under the old engine.

This is my first HD season as well. He had high potential in alot of the core C cat, but my other RS C had higher potential in more cat, but has improved less. The PT must be a large factor.

Too bad I didn't realize that I can only have 6 freshman on my team, bc I had a SG with high pot in all but 2 cats but ended up unable to sign him, even though I was his first choice. Can only imagine how much he would have improved with 35mpg.

I actually made a very similar mistake; the best freshman recruit (a SF) I went after was all set to sign with me, but when he tried I got an e-mail from the AD saying we couldn't sign him. A rookie mistake I won't make again.

Playing time is a huge factor in a player's growth. Probably not as much as what his genetics are (thanks Mom and Dad!), but definitely a large factor.

Didn't realize it matters this much. I'm gonna start my freshman pg as well. No reason to play my senior PG when my team has 0 chance to compete this year.

If you have accepted the fact that your team will not be competitive this season, then this is not a bad idea at all (this is dcy, by the way). Shoot me a sitemail if you have any other questions. I'm kind of busy right now, but I'll try to get back to you when I can.

20 points in 7 games is high but not the highest one sees - playing time helps - high potential helps

if there is no hope, it can be very good idea to get the freshmen starts and good mins

On a related note, does the role played matter?

That is, I have a freshman guard behind 2 senior guards:

Would his development be the same with 25-30 min at SF as the 3rd or 4th option in the offense, or would he be better off (development-wise) being the focus of the offense, even if he isn't better than the 2 seniors right now?

Does 25 minutes off the bench impact development differently than 25 minutes as a starter?

Also, would his Per rating be more likely to increase (or increase more quickly) if I had him set to +2 so he shot more in-game threes, or is that irrelevant?

I'm 9 Games in (2-5 Season plus 2 Exhibitions) and I have a FR PG, David Cooper, with 26 Improves. This is including +5 to BH... which was already 70, and +5 to STM... which was 63.

So now this PG I took has 75 BH and 68 STM... both good things for a Pure Point to have and he's not even into Conference Play yet. Since he Starts more STM means More Minutes, and since Playing Time improves Growth Rate... oh oh! :D

Being a GD player I am absolutely SHOCKED to see such High Growth in Categories already High. Could this kid hit 90 BH in D-III??

No...role does not matter.....which is weird I know, but hard for the engine to track it. It just looks at minutes played, with a bonus for the starter. (i.e. a 18 mpg starter will improve more than a 22mpg 6th man)

Yes for sure he will hit 90 bh if you keep practicing it and he keeps playing. high potential usually maxes out around 20-30 pts above where it started.

Sweet! It says in the Player Thoughts that his BH, DUR and STM are all High Upside. His WE also has improved +2, now it sits at 70 WE.

I've got to get his ATH/SPD up, and his PER is pretty low as well... but I'm not worried about PER. If he can Drive (BH) then I want him driving for Lay Ups and short Jumpers and Dishing it out to the Open Man.

What Offense would best put a PG like David Cooper in position to use his Strengths? I'm rolling with a Motion right now, since the team ran is last Season so we had some IQ there.
