I've been getting a lot of feedback regarding the engine and I've targeted a few areas that need some adjustments made. I just want to assure everyone that your feedback is not being dismissed or ignored.

What I would appreciate from you guys is for you to post boxscore links accompanied by a short description of a specific issue. I'm looking for only extreme results, and it's more helpful to look at particular player or player matchup results as opposed to team-level results if possible.

It also doesn't help me to post vague descriptions like "I should never lose to this team". So try to look at the results and determine what areas cause that outcome and point to those.

Also, please limit this thread to only the boxscore links and explanation. You can continue discussions in other threads.

Thank you.

I think 69 ft attempts to 10 is extreme

2 issues with this one...

1. Running a +4 defense and the opponents still took 27 3's (making 13).

2. Ronald Lee plays all 40 minutes with them running FCP and me running up tempo FB/FCP and shoots 12/22, 8/11, and 3/5 from fg, 3pt, ft.

I shot 57 ft's to their 17. (Same team as my 2nd posting)

The 6/7 update to 3pters clearly went WAY too far. In this example, the sg took 21 shots, all from 3pt range, against a balanced m2m defense. Prior to that game, he'd been taking 60% of his shots from 3p range.

Same issue. Here's my game from last night. My three guards set to 0 for 3pt frequency took 29 of their 33 shots from 3pt range. Before that game, with the same settings about 45% of their shots had come from 3pt range.

Same thing... We shot a lot more 3's then what we normally did. My PG highest amount of 3 point shots was 6 so far this season, and last night he shot twice as much as he ever had before (going 4-12...) even then no game planning/settings/distros/min played were changed.

Louisville vs UC

summary: opponent shoots 16/24 from beyond the arc, including 11/13 in the first half. we are not the quickest DI team, but we have good DEF, IQs, and good ATH and we played a +2. overall, we are certainly a good DEF team, not great. my defenders were never less than fairly fresh, even at the end of the game.

by no means was this a gimme game for us (could have went either way), but i've never seen had my team or an opponent hit this high of a 3 point % taking so many shots from beyond the arc (60% of their total shots were 3s).

Individual matchup rebounding issue (and maybe this one just one of those things, but it struck me as incredibly odd).

My C (ath/spd/reb): 98/44/99

My PF (ath/spd/reb): 73/46/75

My SF (ath/spd/reb): 93/60/89

His PF (ath/spd/reb): 68/43/57

Naturally, his PF had 17 rebounds compared to 19 for my 3 guys combined.

I missed 7 more shot total, but that still seems ridiculous considering my massive advantage on the boards at those three spots.

Here are 2 teams who played at each others courts. The MOV was a 49 in the first game, and a 13 point loss in the second game.

Game 1

Game 2

http://whatifsports.com/hd/GameResults/BoxScore.aspx?gid=5802288

29 to's vs man to 6 to's vs zoco
4-16 on 3pters vs zero to 8-15 vs +2
24 fouls to 10 fouls
lost by 50 pts, even though losing team had wins vs vilanova, wake forest, and mich state, and only an 11 pt loss to #2 ranked clemson, current losing team rpi 21

ok to lose, 50 points is too much margin

its not the final outcome, its just the sheer number of fouls (59). both are high quality teams with good ath/spd/def, with one running slowdown motion/press and the other running triangle/press at normal tempo. so this is not a fast paced high possession game by any means. also more of the offense ran through guards, who tend to get fouled less than bigs. given those two facts, i would hope it would be extremely rare to see roughly 1.5 fouls per minute (one every 40 seconds) between high quality teams.

Scoring margin is very out-of-whack, particularly between evenly-matched teams.

ACC-Allen is arguably the most ruthlessly strong and competitive league in HD. 8 of the first 11 conference games under the new engine have been decided by 20 pts or more -- almost as many as the real-life Big Ten had in an entire season. We are routinely seeing games between postseason-caliber teams being won by 30/40/50 points.

For a point of comparison, I just looked at every Big Ten regular season game from last season:

-There were a grand total of 11 games with a final margin of more than 20 pts.

-There was a grand total of exactly one game with a final margin of more than 30 pts (35, Minny vs. Iowa).

-There was a grand total of exactly one game between NT teams with a final margin of more than 20 pts (22, UW beating OSU w. out Evan Turner).
I also looked at all of the Big Ten games from last season to compare scoring margin between the same two teams in different games.

There were only two instances all season where teams played each other and the scoring margin differed by 30 pts or more from one game to the next. (And one of those matchups also featured a Turner-less Ohio State team and then playing the same team w. Turner.)

In HD, a difference of 30+ from one matchup to the next is currently routine.

OK, just looked at the Big East from last season.

For the entire conference season, there was only one game between NT teams with a scoring margin of 20 or more pts (Marq beat Louisville by 21).

That's nine NT teams playing each other, and only one game decided by 20 or more points.

It seems abundantly clear that all of these HD games between NT teams decided by 30/40/50 pts are extremely out-of-whack. Almost all of the examples are by the home team (as are a very large # of games where a vastly inferior team is winning at home). The consensus is that something with HCA is too strong.
