Get rid of the maximum amount that you can change when setting year to budgets, at least for people with so many seasons of experience. It's a hassle having to switch budgeting priorites by such small increments.

Especially training and medical. You get into an established world and bam, you stuck with 14m and get 8 injuries in ST.

Exactly. It can mess a team up for a while.

I agree.  This could be implemented using the same requirements needed to be able to use the advanced roster moves GM office.

It just took these guys 3 days to fix the forums...I think you're asking quite a bit.

I was dying to shoot down this suggestion, just for the hell of it, but I can't.  There's really no justification for the 4m increments for veteran owners.  Tie it to Advanced Roster Moves(since they won't get rid of the Basic Roster Moves that has to turn off so many new owners).

I like the idea. Especialy if it is tied to adv roster moves.

Nobody here sees a problem with being given the ability to go from a 20/20 training/medical budget to a 0/0 budget or vice-versa from one season to the next? Or going from 20/20 draft scouting to 0/0?

No, you should not be able to go from 20 to 0, but we could increase it from 4 to maybe 7.  At 7 you could go from 20 to 0 in 3 seasons, which is very reasonable.  .  Bigger issue is when you take over a new team all your budget numbers are reset.   So you take over a dog team that the old owner had gotten scouting up to 20, and now you are back at 14 max again?  Doesn't make any sense.  This is part of the reason why bad teams stay bad and end up with revolving owners.

NO, I don't. Could you show an example?

Not really.  It's just a complete change of strategy.    Maybe I've got an old team with a lot of expiring, high-priced contracts.   Because I had a high payroll, I had to make cuts in scouting.  Those contracts expire and I've got 6/6 in HS/College.   Now I have no BL team and no way to jumpstart my minors.  Should I be stuck in nowhere land for 3-4 seasons while I rebuild my scouting?  That seems dumb.   And a fine reason to throwaway my team and start fresh in another world.

Is that what we want in HBD?

i think raising the limit from 4 to maybe 5 or 6 would be best.  i don't think veteran owners should be able to do things that new owner can't; that compounds the natural advantage that they have.
6/18/2010 5:07 PM
Increasing it to 7 would let new owners go anywhere from 3 to 17 right off the bat.  And if you really want to change strategies for the veteran team then it will take you 2 seasons (was at 20, next season 13, 2nd season 6).   And NO SPECIAL RULES FOR VETERAN OWNERS...good grief the arrogance....the veteran roster move screen is for CONVENIENCE...while this is a STRATEGIC issue....

There are no problems going from 0 to 20. It's certainly no different than getting into a 15 year world and while the current owners had chances to get to 20m medical for example, you get stuck with 14m.

Other reasons as well, nonetheless - it's just another strategy.
