Do I have a chance at this dropdown? Topic

I'm a D3 school with A+ prestige. The recruit is in-state, about 300 miles away.  He rejected my phone call, which I know should have deterred me, but I screwed up and scheduled 5 scouting visits in the same cycle.  I also scheduled an in-home visit, which he accepted (which surprised me), and then gave me the following feedback:

"Coach, thanks for the visit. I think my family and I learned a lot about Finlandia, but it's not a good fit for me right now. Sorry it didn't work out. Thanks again."

Does the fact that he accepted the visit and gave me the above feedback mean that I have a chance to pull him down if I follow up with a few more scouting trips?  Or do neither of these mean anything considering he rejected the phone call?

Thanks!

I've never heard of a rejected phone call eventually signing, but the fact that he took the visit is strange.  My gut says you won't be able to sign the guy, I have tried looping back to people who rejected my phone call but weren't considering anyone on the last day of recruiting and they still rejected my phone call. I don't think that can be changed

yeah that's what confused me too.  i'll just try calling him again this next cycle to see if at least he'll give me the backup spiel...

If he accepted the visit you can get him. Him accepting the visit is far more telling than him rejecting the phone call.

kmason--thanks a lot for the input. how would you handle this one now?  the recruiting period ends at midnight.  would you go all in right away--perhaps a few more scouting trips, a campus visit and schollie offer?  or would you play it more carefully--perhaps just a few more scouting trips just to see what he says?

I think it's a waste to use scouting trips if he's accepting HVs. HVs have a much higher value than Scouting Trips so if he's going to accept those it's best to use them. I'd just throw a couple visits at him if he accepts them you should end up on the list. There are times when the emails you get from players contradict themselves. For example in Knight I have an A+ D3 team and was waiting for a player to drop and when he did he contacted me saying he would like to play for me, so I sent him a CV and he rejected it saying he doesn't like the school. So I sent 2 more CVs over the next couple of cycles and got the same response, he then began considering a D2 sim AI but eventually ended up going JUCO. I'd suspect what you are going through is this situation but in reverse.

If he took one visit he will take more so thats the only way to go imo
