Head-to-head recruiting battles, D3 vs. D2 Topic

Can an A+ prestige D3 team beat out a D+ prestige, SimAI--coached D2 team for a local recruit?

I'm hoping yes.

For more information:  How many scholarships do you have?

1. the D2 team has 5 or 6.

I wouldn't try and touch that battle.  You are at a huge cash disadvantage...

Neg - don't even try. Maybe if it was 6 vrs 1-3.

I spent 12k at D3 to get a guy one time, the first thing you have to figure out is if the D2 team is "tight" with him per the FSS 'Word on the Street,' after that I usually steer away from battles where it initially takes me too long to get on his list..

Probably comes down to cash, which you are at a serious disadvantage.

The amount of spaces the D2 school doesn't matter, they don't recruit the same way we do. What matters is the fact that you only have 1 open scholarship, I wouldn't bother if it's a need position, however if it's not and you don't see anybody else you like then why not.

Probably going to come down to whether the recruit is a top priority kid for SIMAI or not...I'm not sure you'd have enough money available to win if SIMAI is dedicated to getting him...if you had more ships and some more cash I'd think yes...

Not too likely

interestingly enough, i did sign him. i threw a home visit, campus visit, and scholarship offer at him in the next cycle, which got me on his list along with the D2 school.  At that point I was down to $150 in budget so I threw a few calls at him and he committed at 11pm.  Maybe I was just lucky!

When during recruiting was this?  If it was after signings and it was when the DII school was targeting secondary guys who were still undecided - this isn't that surprising (and would have been good info to give in the first post).
