Matrix Moments With The New Engine Topic

Thanks court and chew in Allen WVIAC for bringing these up, but how about the Matrix Moments coming up in games with the new engine? Or maybe they did happen before but we let them slide? Really though, in a hyped up new engine mimicking the game even more, how completely rare should things like the two below be? Rarer than they are now......if ever. Post yours if you got 'em

The jump hook by Carl Blake is blocked by Robert Tollett 34-39
00:03 Christopher Abney tips it in

A blocked shot and the ball flying in the other direction, whoa its tipped in?

And my favorite.....

04:12   49-50 David Graziano misses long on a 3pt shot from the right corner
04:11   49-52 David Graziano tips it home

A shooter (albeit badarse) tips in his own 3 point miss....hmmmmmm

I've read an endless amount of complaints on these forums over the past two years. And the large, large majority are not as far-fetched as the postor suggests. While rare, these two events are possible. Blocked shots don't always travel backwards. If the shot is blocked but it still continues to move in a direction closer to the hoop, it could feasibly be tipped in. As far as the 3-pointer, if the shooter releases and then follows his shot, as coaches teach you from a very young age but most players don't do, he could be in a better position to tip in a miss that bounces his way.

TIpped in blocked shots DO happen.  YOu get a finger on the ball and alter its trajectory, its still called a block, even if the ball doesn't go flying.

While these things can happen, they happen too frequently in HD compared to real life.  OTOH, they are mostly window dressing.

Also, nothing wrong with the tone or intent of the original post.  What's the problem with collecting a bunch of amusing, improbable PBP sequences?

Byline: Ken Tysiac

CHARLOTTE, N.C. _ Daniel Ewing tried yelling Sunday, but the words wouldn't come out of his throat.

Ewing wanted to warn Duke teammate J.J. Redick that his breakaway layup was about to be blocked from behind.

No matter. The soft-spoken Ewing always has been better with deeds than words. He tipped in the blocked shot for a four-point lead, and top-seeded Duke advanced to the Austin Regional semifinals with a 63-55 defeat of Mississippi State.

Retreating to midcourt, Ewing pounded the Charlotte Coliseum floor with his hands. Ewing, a senior guard, scored a game-high 22 and made his biggest plays late in the game.

no negative intent with this post, just looking for amusing moments with the new engine, to see if certain tweaks may be needed. Anyone into sports knows of following your shot, that's tried and true, but you don't miss long on a 3-pointer from the corner (which travels then to the other side of the court) and tip it in. That's a long way to travel, jump and tip it.....

unless.....

you are Neo

We also have to remember that  there are a LOT more games being played in the WIS universe at every single level than in real life....I mean, how many total games are there in WIS in one calender year as opposed to in real life? Gotta take that into account when complaining that things happen more in HD than in real life...

I remember Larry Bird following his 3pt shot against ATL and Wilkins.....but then again, he IS the greatest player of ALL TIME.....

Maybe it should read "partially blocked" and rebounded his own miss and quickly followed by a layup on a 3....doable right if you miss one just dead short and are going to the boards?

Reinsel,

That is exactly what it should be. The pvp just isn't as extensive as we want.

If you miss long its actually more likely to come back towards you because its probably going to hit the inside part of the back rim.

I would like to than Spoon for the more colorful and more complete and accurate Play by Play of the blocked shot in my game last night, as posted in my coaches corner this afternoon.

Spoonnt - I can picture two big men up in the air, ball in flight to basket, big power block comes sending the ball flying in the other direction, suddenly the one-handed tip in comes from ten feet away...swish

.....and Neo just entered the building.

I had the same thing happen to me. SG puts up a 3 and misses, 2 seconds later he tips it in.
16:43 Darrin Mears can't connect on a 3pt attempt from the left wing 0-0
16:41 Darrin Mears tips it back up and in
