Noob Question that may have been covered before, apologize in advance.  2 Part Question:

I understand that the rating for pitch calling is what qualifies a catcher to be a catcher, but how big of an affect does it have on pitchers?  Is it possible to play certain catchers per pitcher or do you have to just change the lineup each cycle for who you want to catch...

For instance, if I have a massive hitting catcher with a lower pitch rating and a below average hitting catcher with great defensive marks, it would make sense to me to have the great pitch caller catch combine with the Aces of my staff to increase their dominance where I don't need as much run support, while putting in some more power to pitchers the calling might not affect as much...

Or Maybe I'm looking too much into it?

You could also ask the question the other way.  Would it make sense to use less of a pitch caller on your ACE since he was already that good and use a good pitcher caller on a less able pitcher... either way it depends on what the differences are and what type of trade off you are getting.  From my exp, pitch calling is very important.

PC has been said (in a DevChat) to affect OAV, or at least be a component in how is breaks down.

As to how much, that is up for debate.

It really becomes a matter of what your team can stand.

Sometimes your big hitting C is #3/4/5 in your lineup, you probably don't want to lose him. If he's your #7 hitter, anyway, what's the harm in helping your staff with a better game caller behind the plate hitting 8th or 9th.

The stadium you play in might be worth considering, as well as the SP.

My San Diego team always finishes near the top in pitching, while I have a 44 PC catcher with a middle of the order bat. I'd never play him in a neutral park, but in Petco he's an All-Star.

Also: Your best pitchers will be your best pitchers, regardless of who's catching.

Thanks guys.  It was a hypothetical question actually.  My Catcher is a projected 87 Contact, 89 Power, 87 vL , 94 vR, 93 EYE.

However, 27 Durabilty.  I overspent on him International Signing not even understanding durability, he turned out to be a DITR but even with that I'm finding he isn't going to play every game, so I pretty much HAVE to have another catcher.  Just was trying to figure out the effect on getting a great Defensive catcher to go along with him.  Appreciate the input.

PC is a modifier on your pitcher's actual pitch ratings, which would imply that a catcher with high PC would be more useful teamed up with a pitcher with multiple marginal pitches (say, 80/70/50/50/50) rather than one with a limited number of highly rated pitches (say, a 90/80 reliever).

You are in the AL.  Sit him vs weak opposition, play him at DH vs. average opposition, and play him at C vs tough competition (assuming you have another big bat to play at DH).  Look ahead in the schedule and plan out how you are going to use him.  With that low of a durability you have to carefully manage him to get maximum and most meanful use out of him.

Personally I always value PC over bat, but that's me.  And then only if the catcher has arm and accuracy to go with it.  Don't undervalue the catcher's defense, everyone loves to set their steal rating high it seems.   My perfect catcher has ThP, ThA, and PC all above 80, and hitting attributes of at least 50s (but hopefully much better).  If I have a catcher like that it would take a very very good hitting catcher to unseat him.  But again, that's just me.
