The Former League

Have you ever watched Basaball Tonight only to become frustrated when a former player from your team has gone on to find sucsess elsewhere? Here is your chance to bring them back.

Pick an exclusive Franchise and bring back fromer players. You may only select a season of a player that came after he left your team. So if I choose the Rangers I could pick a Yankees version of A-Rod but not a Marniners version. If you have a player who left and came back you may choose any of those middle years before he returned. The player must have appeared in the majors on your team to be eligible. All 25 players must be fromer players of your team.

24 team league, random divisions.

Def taking my Astros here. But some questions knee. Is your roster only full of guys that came back, and what years is this thru?

Ahh yes, only guys who have come back and 1968-on.

I am confused.  In your example, you used A-rod.  Then above implies only players who have come back to previous franchise, and A-rod never came back to Rangers.  Can you clarify?

I just brought up that senario, there are players like say Russell Branynan who left a team and came back. In that senario you could use the time inbetween. Most players wont fall into that category.

Still don't understand, not trying to be an idiot.  I am going to join, just want to understand.  I get the Branyan example, but don't understand your reply to Bastan about "only guys who have come back" when he asked you if you need to have a full 25 man roster of guys that came back.  I read that to imply you need a full roster of players like Branyan, Pettite to the Yankees, etc.

He asked if the team would have any current players on it. You may only have former players. So for example the Expos could have Vlad the Angles years and Pedro the Red Sox or Mets or Phillies years. The Mets however can only have Pedro the Phillies years as they came after his Mets years. The Mets however could not have Carlos Beltran or Reyes on thier team as they are current players.

Gotcha.  Sign me up, gonna think about team.  Is there a baseball-reference way or team center option that we can view a list of players to chose or do we have to do extensive research and use of memories?

I think the best way is to just shuffle through year by year on the team page of baseball reference to see who played for your team, then you can go from there. But like you said some of your memories may work best, I know there are times I thought man look what the Marlins could have had if they held on to some guys.
