70s Team Icon Needs One for 1975 (MIN) Topic

The 1970s Team Icon League is going to need a few new owners for the 1974 Season. We are about 110 games through the regular season and the draft order will be set soon. I know at least the Angels and Twins will need new owners. Their 1973 rosters are below.

RULES:

Salary Cap
- None

AAA - 12/6 Below Average (I think this will be fine but the number might increase). Any CK/TI/EE with less than 50 IP/ 130 AB may be placed in AAA to start the season.

DH - PL Only (Beginning in 1973)

Trades - Allowed and almost needed. Teams can only trade for eligible players though. Draft picks may be traded 2 years in advance. (Ex. During the 1970 draft, picks from 1970 and 1971 can be traded. Once the 1970 season begins though picks from 71 and 72 can be traded). Players to be named later (future random AAA players) may also be traded.

IR - Unlimited. Restricted to any player without a WIS season, or any CK/TI/EE that did not play for your franchise at all during that season.

WW - No

Keepers - Unlimited. Any players who were assigned to your roster as career keepers, team icons etc. must be kept for the duration of their career. There are several applicable scenarios explained below in which they can be placed on IR though.

Subsequent Seasons Draft Order - Will be determined at the transaction deadline (120 games). 48 wins are needed to qualify for a top 3 pick. Teams that do not reach 48 wins will be slotted from the 4th spot on by most wins. The rest of the draft (including top 3 picks) is inverse order or record.

Divisions - 4 divisons, 2 playoff teams/league. No inter-league play.

Team Names and Stadiums - Same as real life. If your team changes names or moves parks, then you must do the same.

-----------------------

The Concept

So what's thsi all about?

Johnny Bench playing for the Twins? Harmon Killebrew playing for the Pirates? Roberto Clemente on the Phillies? Steve Carlton pitching in Yankee stadium? It all doesn't make sense and this league's goal is to put players, who played years for the same team and became a figure in that city, in their proper place.

All players who fall in to any of the groups below will belong to their respected team for the duration of their career.

--------

Keeper Rules - All players that fall in to the 3 keeper categories below will be forced on their respected franchise. They can not be traded or cut.

CAREER KEEPERS - Any player who has played his entire career for one team will belong to that team. If a player has played for several teams but has only racked up 50 AB or 25 IP in a season for one team he will also belong to them. So if Player A plays 4 full years for the Dodgers, then goes to the Cubs where he only nets 30 AB's and is traded to the Mets where he gets another 30 he will be still be considered a Dodgers Career Keeper.

TEAM ICONS - Any player who's first 10 or more eligible WIS seasons are with the same team, and who has had no more than 3 WIS seasons with other teams (including expansion teams) will be designated a Team Icon and belong to the team whom he played 10 years for.

- If a player is traded during his 10th season he will still qualify and that season will not be used against his 3.

- If a player is traded during his first WIS season but has compiled say 30 ABs for Team A and 30 for Team B, teams can use this season to count towards the 10.

- If a player plays 11 seasons for team A, then for the next 4 seasons picked up 30 ABs for 2 different teams each season (so 60 total each year), he will not be eligible.

- Any players being kept this way is allowed to be put on IR any season he did not play for your franchise.

EXPANSION EXEMPTIONS - Any player who has only reached 25IP/50AB with 2 teams, one of which is an expansion team (or had 3 seasons, 2 for expansion teams etc..) will belong to the non expansion franchise.

- Any player who played every game for an expansion team will not be eligible to be drafted by any team. As long as a player played 1 game for any eligible franchise (does not need to meet the 25/50 rules) he will be eligible to be drafted by any team he played for.

- Like the Team Icon rule, any season in which a player who is kept by an expantion exemption can be placed on IR any season he did not play for your franchise.

------

*Every other player who does not fall in to one of these rules will be eligible to be drafted by any team he appeared in 1 game for (any team that shows up on his B-R page).

If it seems daunting or complicated don't worry it's quite simple once we start. And every teams keepers and draft eligible players will all be listed so you don't have to figure any of this out yourself.
