PI champion, prestige drop? Topic

Looking for comments - just won the PI and my prestige dropped from a B+ to a B. Is that surprising or is the NT the end-all, be-all? Here are my last 4 seasons:

Giesen, the only thing I can think of after looking at the stats you just posted are, 1. overall losses and 2. RPI

The NT is the end all and be all.

The only thing I can think of is that you were just barely a B+ last season and you're a high 'B' now.  But I'd send in  a ticket

Season 41 - only 10 losses against a 39 RPI. The other 3 seasons are 12, 13, & 13 losses against weaker schedules/RPI (59, 59, & 45) and in season 41 he also had 11 conference wins.

My prestige dropped from A to A- after winning the PIT at UConn this season in Knight.
We were 23-10 overall with a 34 RPI and finished just outside the rankings.

I was a little surprised by the drop but not shocked, it didn't really bother me.
I just figured it was par for the course.
Should I be annoyed?

At one time Admin posted that a PI championship was worth a 2nd round NT... if thats true then the prestige drop is stupid... however I dont think its true and I like that its not true

You're lucky it didn't drop to a B last season with an 11-16 record and a 135 RPI.

Quick, name 4 teams in the real world NIT this past year.

No kiddin....

There are 2 other possibilities. 1. Did you have a player drafted the prior season that boosted the prestige? That effect goes away. 2. The conference prestige may have dropped, dragging you down with them.

I remember one. UNC lost in the championship game, I think, but I can't remember to whom.

Dayton.

UNC, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Rhode Island, Dayton, Northwestern.

That's six off the top of my head... oh, Stony Brook lost to Vermont, right?  That's seven.

EDIT: Throw in UConn, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, Mississippi State, Memphis, Arizona State.  I believe that's 13 off the top of my head.
