RedShirting question??? Topic

Is anyone else having problems trying to RedShirt a guy this year. I'm NOT talking with the engine, I'm talking about how the recruits are dealing with it. Here are the 3 resonses I've gotten so far.

1. Coach, are you serious? You want to redshirt me? Come on, I should be starting not sitting. I'm checking out other options.
2. Hey Coach, I can pretty much scratch Shepherd off the list - redshirt me? I don't think so.
3. Hey Coach, I can pretty much scratch Shepherd off the list - redshirt me? I don't think so.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. This is my first time trying to RedShirt a guy.

You have to throw lots of money at most guys to get them to accept the redshirt.  depending on money available, distance etc.. I might throw a few more campus visits and home visits at a guy in the same cycle that I offer him the redshirt. You can do it after too, but as you saw they might fall off your considering list and someone else may jump on them during the cycle.

Basically though you just have to spend lots of money to overcome a RS offer.

Following up, If I'm attaching the RedShirt to a Home Visit (which I did), how can the recruit Not respond favorably to the RedShirt, if he never accepted the Home Visit (which happened, all 3 players rejected the HV first, than rejected the RS offer)? The logistics of this don't make sense to me because if he never accepted the HV than either me, or my coach, never offered the RS. Anyone, please explain this to me.

court, you're taking that waaay too literally.

This does not mean that the coach physically goes to the player's house in order to offer the RS.

True, I know you can do it via the mail and over the phone, but I did it this way on purpose to get the Home Visit in and during said HV when I could explain things better, I would do it than to be able to better explain the issues and concerns. So like I said, if the HV never happened, I don't get how the negative RS happened. because it was attached to the visit. I did them together, not at seperate times.

No, that's what I'm trying to tell you -- it was not "attached" to the visit. They are two completely separate recruiting actions. It may be that in your mind you associate them to be attached, but that is not the reality.

You know these "recruits" aren't real, right?

LOL did you make sure on your visit to compliment the wallpaper? That might have done it.

But yea court they are 2 seperate actions that you just simulated in 1 cycle. He rejected your visit because he wasn't willing to consider you yet. If he doesn't even want to consider you there is no way he is going to like you telling him oh by the way we are going to redshirt you.

First you should get on his considering list, offer him the schollie so that he is willing to take it, then next cycle send him a redshirt along with some HV and CV. If you are not even on his list of schools yet there is no way he says ok cool thanks for the RS. It is even possible when you send the RS with the HV and CV he will drop you off his list, if that happens you just gotta send even more money his way.
