Max FA's and Coaches Topic

So if a player gets 3 max offers I am under the understanding that coaches is the main tiebreaker.

How does this work for teams that do not have a coach signed? Are we SOL?

I've seen this in the forums before, but I'm not sure it's accurate.  In Canseco World, a FA SP had multiple MAX offers, but choose my team, which had an 81-rated pitching coach, instead of other teams with better pitching coaches.

If you have not signed a coach yet, then the process uses your coach from last season and his ratings.  However, most FAs receiving multiple max offers won't sign until the last day, when nearly all coaches have already signed.

As coaches sign, the teams bidding for FAs are re-evaluated and the leader can change.

Bullpen coach matters as well, not just pitching coach.  And if it's close, ballpark is factored in.

My bullpen coach was average at best, plus I'm not in a pitchers park per se.  Are the tie-breakers listed anywhere on the site?  I checked the 'Help' page, but didn't see anything.

They are listed in the FAQ section of the Help area.  In the one personal experience I had with this process, it seemed to work exactly as described.  I obviously can't say if it always works correctly or not.  The part about using last season's coaches until you hire one was what WIS told me in a ticket exchange.

Obviously how good your coaches were are only important in relation to the teams bidding against you.  If you had an average coach and they had below-average, then you would have the relative advantage.
