This is the first time I have ever had quite this large of a recruiting class coming up(Never really had it so I have more than four at once before) So I am trying to figure out the strategy to follow.

A: What to recruit to fill back out the roster
I was thinking possibly two guards, a definite big and someone to play Small forward. (Recruit four and leave two walkons or pick up someone cheap at the last minutes if I have some money left?)  Was going to concentrate on rebounding, Perimeter, and Bh/Pass.

B: What offense and defense to run;  would I be better off, since I have to have six new players anyway, two switch off of my fastbreak, my press or both?  Looking at my IQ's I had been considering switching to a Motion/Man:  My IQ's are going to be bad next year either way, so it would seem like a good time to transition if I am going to.

ANy comments would be helpful, just a bit of uncharted waters for me doing this much of a roster turnover.

B. If you don't like the fastbreak or the press, now is definitely the time to switch.  Personally, I like the press but not the FB, but that's just my preference - play the sets you want to play.

Could a motion press work all right?

Champions play motion press.  The question is, are you a champion like PeteC?

Hail Hail PeteC!!

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.

Would I be right in presuming that to run a motion(WHich I have not done)  Passing and Ball handling might take a slight edge over LP/Per in recruiting?  To pass around and get a good shot without committing turnovers?

Athleticism is also emphasized in motion offenses.

Mo-man or Mo-press.  Studied a couple of worlds, one at each level, to see which offenses and defenses worked under the new engine.  Good results with the press may be the residual effect of the success of the press under the old engine--teams using it gained better prestige and thus were able to recruit better players.  Will look again in a few more seasons.  As far as recruiting-two PG's, two bigs (ratio of 5 bigs, 7 PG's/wings is good, and you have to look at the guys you are now juniors and leave next year.  Finally, two wings (SG/SF).  Some SG's and even PF's can slide over to SF, so if you don't like the crop of SF's, look at the SG's and PF's.  Good luck with recruiting.

Given my large roster turnover(This year six gone, two more next year for a total of eight), I was vaguely thinking of trying to assemble something like one of these from that offenses explanation thread thingy stickied at the top.  Given there is now no position penalty, do you think its possible to make this work?  Just genuinely curious and want to see what people think.
4 out, 1 in:
I would have a PG, SG, SG, SF, C allignment.
The center must have good distribution to ensure that he will get post up opportunities. In this case, you must be very good all around the board skill wise. Since there will hypothetically be driving opportunities, athleticisim and speed help as well.

5 Out:
I would have a PG, SG, SG, SF, PF alignment, whereas the PF must have very high PE, or very good perimeter skills. I think this is very difficult to run, because of the 2 position penalty imposed on players in WIS. Realisitically, the offense would probably have 3 SG and a SF, and you would play very uptempo defensively.

(Using his definitions, to add in on edit)

Point is a good ball handler and passer
SG is a shooter, high perimeter and ball handler
SF is a combo player, needs the ability to shoot, drive, and post...probably if you have a great player at this position, you will have a good offensive team.
PF a post player who generally plays a little more out on the floor, needs to have good Low Post and passing ability
C a post player who is generally closer to the basket. Low Post and Rebounding are the most key skill rating
