Shortstops with great range glove/weak arm Topic

This is all hypothetical here:

Say I got a 2B/CF type with a range of 90 and a glove of 84, but an arm rated at 60/60.

My SS, has a range of 79 and a glove of 77, but an arm of 90/85.

Would I be better off leaving the SS where he's at and playing the other guy at 2B, or would it possibly make sense to flip them, have the 2B guy play short?

The main question is who much does a weak arm impact play at SS, if the other ratings are very good for a SS?

Thanks all!

Would you rather have a good 2B and a subpar SS, or a mediocre 2B and a subpar SS?

Nothing is entirely in a vacuum.

It has a big impact.  I would find a true fielding SS even at the sacrafice of hiting.  Then put your 90/84 in CF or 2b.  If you dont have a choice at this point and you have to play one of the two I would prefer the 90/84 glove at SS because although his arm wont make all the throws at least he wont be letting everything past him

Thanks guys.  Like I mentioned this is hypothetical at this point.  I was mainly wondering because I do have a team with several quality 2B/CF types, but a bit short are good defensive SS.

Another question, if you play the poor ranged SS weak glove, does it help to pair him with a really above average 3rd baseman, say a 75 range 3rd?  I'm wondering, because it's pretty much what the Cardinals did a few years ago with Scott Rolen at 3rd and David Eckstein at SS.  They actually had Rolen playing more towards the hole and off the line than he normally would have.

Thanks!

Don't have much experience in this, but I would venture to say that the players can field their position and nothing else. I think there are a number of balls that come to their respective position and they either make the play or don't.
