I have a tough matchup coming up against a very good PG (74 ATH/ 100SPD--  great at PER, BH, PASS).

I'm trying to figure out which of my starting guards to matchup with him in a man-to-man defense.   Here are their key stats:

Guard 1:
ATH:  75
SPD:  85
DEF:  99
IQ:  A+

Guard 2:
ATH:  93
SPD:  98
DEF:  84
IQ:  A

Guard 1 is a better defender and has a higher IQ, matches up pretty well athletically, but is slower.    Guard 2 matches up better from an ATH/SPD area, and has a good IQ, but isn't the defender of Guard 1.    Not sure who is the best matchup.   Thanks!

I'd go with 1

I vote for #2. Great defense means nothing if you get there too late to use it. Speed Rules.

I am of the belief that ATH is a multiplier for just about everything else. I'd go #2 for the 19 point ATH bump advantage over the opponent and the SPD thing. His IQ and DE are close enough IMO.

for me it depends on the defense.  in m2m, i'd rather have #1.  for zone or press, #2.  since you run m2m, i'd actually go with #1.

Just from a defense stand point, guard 1 is better in the m2m. Guard 2 is better in press. All around, I'd take guard 2. He isn't MUCH worse defender, and the higher ath/speed will likely make him the better scorer and help get the opps in foul trouble all things even.

I def go with guard 2, he's a pretty good defender and he's far more athetlic and faster than guard 1. However I do think stamina is a relevant rating in the new engine when judging this. If there is no discernable difference than I'd go with guard 2 however if guard 1's staming is like 95 and guard 2 is in the 70s then I'd lean towards guard 1.

I'd go with 2, assuming BH, PASS, and Off IQ are similiar between the two.  I'd rather have a guy that runs the offense better and doesn't turn it over as much, even if he gives up a couple of more points. 

It wasn't about who the better player is. That likely would be #2. Its about who is the better defender, which IMO any set other then press its #1. Higher IQ + Higher def with ath/speed that is good enough to keep him near his guy would make him the easy choice if you had to put 1 at PG vrs a non shooter/scorer and the better defender on the SG who is the scorer.

guard 2......his def rating is terrific. so comparing two terrific def ratings is like figuring out which two delicious apples are more delicious. guard 2's overall ath and spd is  31 pts better then guard 1......

In any defense set, including Man to Man, I would take guard 2 over guard 1. But that's just me.

Which type do you prefer, the red or green?

It depends on the night too.  Sometimes the engine decides one rating matter more than another.
