I don't get it. I try to trade a fifth starter to a bad team for a rookie league player and one jerk is trying to get it vetoed. If both owners like a deal, let them make it unless there's collusion.

I'm the jerk he is referring to and a original owner in season 16 of Joey Belle.  This clown just got assigned a team three days ago (along with 3 HBD seasons under his belt) and is tearing it into pieces by making one-sided deals for nothing.  Some call it tanking.  The guy is a complete fraud, talking $hit on the boards and via PM, shows no respect to anyone while doing it.

I guess it goes to show you that one owner can screw up an entire league.

Why dont you post the trade to the board if you are going to complain either way about it..?

I have no problem with anyone calling for a veto in a league if they feel it's the right thing to do.  Sometimes attention needs to be called to trades.

Two people in agreement doesn't always = good.

If me and a buddy decide to rob a bank, I bet some other people object.  Not sure why, both of us like the idea, it should be OK, right?

I've already rejected the deals in question.  When they come back to me as approved or vetoed, I'll post them and let you be the judge.

Trying to get owners to veto a deal only works if the deals are rotten to begin with.

A better analogy might be that your buddy is the bank.  You guys might not object to the deal, but the community would.

You should post the deal if you want to find out what people think about it.  Just saying the player is "rookie league" player without saying anything about what he might be projected to be seems a bit misleading.

What I'd like to know, is what would a "bad team" want with your 5th starter?  Will that make him competitive?  If he wants the guy, great.  You want the rookie leaguer?  Fine.  The owners in your world can veto for any reason they want.  If someone wants the world to veto your trade and goes public, it's just as much your right to defend it.   Believe me, I know about that.  You win some of those and lose some.  Your world, if healthy will police itself.

If you honestly did nothing wrong then don't worry about it. You can't take a veto personally....If it's a bad deal then it's a bad deal. If the trade is that bad then it would've been vetoed without anyone saying anything.

Looks like the deal in question was vetoed but this one happened:

This one would have probably annoyed me just as much.   Both players suck and should never be on a BL team but one makes a BL salary and the other is a rookie league.

Well, two of the three were veteod so I guess someone was listening when I blew the whistle.  Sad to say, JB has really dropped a notch.  I hate to leave a league I have been in since Day 1 but I am considering it.  Too bad too, my team needs a re-vamping and I thought I could turn it around quickly.

No, we all know that you have no problem with whining about trade offers hartjh, especially when yours isnt the one that is picked. I really hate you left Kruk before the beating I would have laid on you this season...All that big talk and you run off...This "one and done, inexperienced owner" as you called me has only improved my team by 32 wins this season with 15 games still left

In my limited time, I notice there are two kinds of vetoers:  Those who quietly veto a trade they find suspect and then go about their business, and then those who veto trades and shout it from the rooftops, making sure everyone knows it, and demanding that everyone else veto it too.

I personally get annoyed by #2, but am totally fine with #1.  You're not always gonna get 32 guys in complete agreement on every trade.  Frankly, I'd be a little worried if that was the case.  It's good to get opinions and make people think.  I've noticed in some worlds, guys veto trades and they're up front about it, stating their reasons.  It then generates CONSTRUCTIVE discussion which leads to the vetoer or trade parties seeing things differently - or at least coming closer to a common ground.

Bottom line: It's "business", so don't take it personally and be professional about it, on either side.  No one is gonna be talked/ordered into vetoing a trade they don't want to veto.

HBD trading is largely a rubberstamp process.   Many owners don't bother to vote in either direction(which is approval) or just approve under the premise of "It's their team, they can do what they want."     There are times when one needs to "shout from the rooftops".   That said, all the shouting in the world will not do any good if owners don't see a problem.   But it will make it far more likely that they'll look at the deal.
