Quick development question Topic

Edward Stoneberg

I recruited this guy mainly because FSS told me he had high potential in perimeter, and my asst coach agreed once the season began. However, after 19 games (24 practices) and practice time between 9-14 minutes in perimeter, he has only improved 1 point. To compare, he has average potential in shot blocking and has improved 3 points, and a low potential in defense and has improved 1 point, with 10-14 minutes on footwork.

Should I really expect development to be this slow for guys with low initial ratings, no matter the potential?

Yes, guys with single-digit ratings improve more slowly.  My experience was that this was not the case when potential was initially rolled out, but has been adjusted since then.

Dang, so even with high potential am I wasting valuable practice minutes on this guy trying to improve his perimeter game?

Not necessarily.  Once his per rating gets to about 9 or 10, it will start to move along much faster.  I have a guy similar to this and I'm just going to have him max out in everything else (not a whole lot of potential everywhere else unfortunately) and then pour practice time into perimeter.
