I came to this "game" based on the videogame appeal. I can sit at work and basically play a college basketball dynasty on my computer rather than going home and playing on my Xbox.

Like a videogame, it doesn't matter which team you pick on which level, if you recruit and coach properly you will be a dominant team.

I am in favor of returning HD to videogame status and eliminating baseline prestige, prestige caps, terrible recruit generation.

I say the best recruiter and best coach should be able to build an A+ dynasty at any school they want.
Just curious: When did you play this game when it didn't have baseline prestige and prestige caps?

I was making a point, details weren't relevant.  Thanks for the analytical approach....

Details weren't relevant? The whole thing was details

Isn't that what it is now?

i agree about the prestige caps and the prestige baselines, but i'm actually in favor of the way recruits are created. i only wish the players were of the same quality from the last engine. we were told there would be more diversified talent at positions, but 90% of the centers i see near me are slow, slow and slow. where are the fast centers with perimeters that we were promised. i don't see them. and the one or two that are created are snatched by higher division teams. so how is that good for d3 coaches like myself?

i am seeing less diversification now then i did with the last engine. when i look at teams most are either one or the other, extremely talented with no stamina, or average talent with great stamina.

Well, the positions don't mean anything, yet again.  Look at PF's and make a fast PF with perimeter into a center.
Also; potential.

slow is relative.  if there are no "fast" bigmen for you,  then im guessing there arent any fast bigmen for your competitors either..right?

maybe 20-30 is now fast for a D3 bigman?  Sorry for talking out of school as I havent looked at D3 recruits for 8 months or so.  But I am assuming that not all of them are single digit SP?

As for perimeter... i might agree with you there.  they still havent gotten that quite right.  whether they are PF or C or whatever,  there shoudl be some who can be effective perimeter players and decent rebounders.  now,  that type of player may have horrible low post and poor defense or shotblocking,  but we defintiely need bigmen who can rebound and shoot from the perimeter.    one of the probelms i think, is that there seems some kind of penalty for bigmen where they dont  even shoot 3s as well or as often as the SFs and gaurds... even when they have similar PE.  one thing that doenst seem to be factored in is that versus a m2m,  this big guy is prolly going to be gaurded by someone big and slow and so he should be more open than he would be if he was a gaurd (gaurded by a little quick dude)  and if they are playing against a zone and have 4 perimeter shooters on the court,  they should all get better looks... but i dont thinnk the engine is sophisticated enough to see that.  so,  the only succes i ever had with a perimeter bigman in D3 was once or twice when i had PFs with rediculous PE  and great IQ.  basically just their senior year and maybe part of their junior year.  this was before potential so you could get a player to improve thier PE by 40pts or so over thier career (at least thats what i recall)  and so you could have a 70PE kid in D3... but in fr and soph year when they were 40PE and 50PE I did not seem to be able to get them to shoot over 30%

Lol, exactly.

His point was that he longed for the days where HD didn't have prestige caps or baseline prestige.

But those days never existed. Before the change to current floating prestige system, it was much MORE difficult for lower-tier teams and they didn't even have the ability to turn themselves into, say, an A- school.

I'm certainly not saying this system is perfect, only that his entire "let's go back to how things used to be" argument wasn't factual.

In real life, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, etc. were not given their prestige recruiting status. It was realistically earned. All teams should have to reaflistically earn all of their prestige in HD. None of it should be given.

i mean this with all sincerity, is this thread a sarcastic joke?

Why do people not understand that the people at the top of baseline prestige earned their way there. You have to coach you way to the top. This game is all about the journey. And to be perfectly honest, I dont want to be playing a game where the A+ teams are Colgate, Yale, and Hampton and the D schools are Duke, Syracuse, and Kentucky.
