Does the engine take handedness into account in addition to splits? I.E. would a a lefty with a VSR of 60 be better against RHP than a righty with a VSR of 60? Or would they both match-up equally?

You have to account for the pitcher's splits as well.

Generally, pitchers are rated better against batters from the same side (so the RH P will generally have a higher vsRH split).

If, though, the RH pitcher in question has a vsRH of 50 and a vsLH of 50, then the batters with the same 60VSR should match up equally.

To just clarify what zbrent said, that is the only way that handedness matters; if those two batters were both facing a RHP with splits of 60/60, neither one would have an advantage.
