I'm running a DII and a DIII program and was wondering if its worth spending time practicing an offensive and defensive set or should I dedicate all the time to player development.

Well let's say that you are the director of a play. All your actors learn all their lines by heart. They get their voice inflections down perfectly. They are great with their facial expressions and body movements. Now comes the opening night and the curtain rises but no one has a clue where to stand on the stage. They all stand around flat-footed because no one told them their cues. When they do move, they are bumping into each other or out of position when someone tries to pass them a prop. It is a total fiasco.

If you don't practice O&D that's exactly what you would see.

I don't believe there is an actual curtain at the start of the games.

Go to see a Miami Redhawks game. They have a giant curtain.

It's not like GD, make sure you get your O and D IQs up to the B+ or better range if you want them to play well.

You need to practice O/D in HD. 20 minutes of offense and 20 minutes of defense is a good starting point
