Playing your vets during ST Topic

Is there any upside to this?  I.e. are they prone to a ratings hit if they don't get any reps?  Because I'm starting to think that it's a lot safer to just rest 'em and avoid the injury risk.

Give then 20-25 ABs, or 5-10 IP's, and they'll be fine.

Give the rest of the playing time to your prospects.

In my last ST, I gave ZERO at bats and innings pitched to my vets and none of them took a ratings hit.

My question would then be did you notice if the vets in question underperformed their ratings at the start of the season?

There is no link between ST playing time and performance. Cyber-players do not need to shake off the winter's rust. The only potential problem is a ratings hit.

Some have and some haven't....as josh said, I don't believe it's relevant.

I don't believe the game is complex enough to program in a negative correlation between ST reps and early season performance.

My 'hypothesis' is that as long as a vet is on your ST roster at the end of ST, it counts as if he had full playing time.

I've had vets take hits at the end of ST.   Not 100% certain that limited playing time had a role.   WifS says it does.

Could it have been due to age?

Yes, all of them are past their prime.   Not sure if playing time would have helped.   Not sure lack of playing time hurt.  There's really no way to know.  But WifS says it matters.
