FSS note vs. SIM recruiting Topic

If I was trying to recruit a player, but now says he is *very* tight with a D- program several hundred miles away while I'm a C- and 20 miles out is it still basically a lost cause on my end?

1 full letter grade is like 100% more effective, right? And at 20 miles, things are cheap...if you've got the $ to fight, and really want the player, you can probably get him. Is the other team human or simai?

SimAI... I just heard that they sometimes get really 'spendy' to duel.

simai recruits all at some low cost regardless of distance.they target # of scolies - 2 kids initially and put a good amount of effort in. That is all they'll put though, so if you take the lead from the sim you'll keep it, I believe. At 20 miles you still have a distance advantage over even a sim. If you've got some $ and he is a priority, go for it...

What day of recruiting is this? I believe it gets exponentially harder to knock off sims late into recruiting.

It just started yesterday evening

You should be able to win easy.  I picked off a sim on day two of recruiting in a similar situation for like $4000 (in D1),

Pretty sure a full letter grade is worth about 30% not a 100%, it's about 10% for each 1/3 letter.

Really depends, I was in this situation a few seasons back and never got on the players list after spending 10k and just gave up.

It's actually somewhere in between the two, but well more than 30%.

if the money is spent at the same time, with distance the same, and all promises the same, and player preferences the same, I think the 100% is correct, 33% per third of a grade, at least that is how the engine worked - unless it has been tweeked recently.  Unless they are lying to me, I have had at least two vet coaches confirm this ratio to me independent of each other, good coaches, well to be frank, great ones.

The biggest reason this sometimes is very confusing - a B+ and a B can be equal - since real prestige is a number, a B+ can be 3.33 +/- .16 and a B can be 3.00 +/- .16, hence at the extremes, 3.17 vs 3.16

I figured the formula out by sitemailing coaches and telling them what I spent and asking them if they would tell me what they spent once recruiting is over.  In the case of sims, we used to know exactly what they spent, although that has changed a bit, it is pretty easy to calculate what you need to spend to get considered, to get ahead, and to wipe them away.

33% per 1/3 letter grade seems like a huge disadvantage to overcome. I feel like I've won too many battles against teams with higher prestiges for that to be right.

The big thing you need to figure out is the FSS on the player. It will tell you in the proximety catergory whether the player wants to play close to home, far away, or doesn't matter. After that if it's "doesn't matter", go for it becaue of your FULL letter grade difference. The one that will hurt you is if he "wants to get away" and you only being 20 miles.

I really hope that you're not serious..........
