To redshirt or not to redshirt? Topic

So I am normally against the posts where people post their recruits just so other people can tell them how great they did, but I have found myself in a very interesting (and wonderful) situation where I feel I picked up 2 guys (pg, c)  in my 3 (1pg, 1pf, 1c) member class who are going to be remarkable at the D3 level.  I have 8 (4g, 1sf, 3 bigs) returning players, the 3 frosh, and walkon to come later....so I think I will have a pretty good team this season, as I could probably start 5 srs if I wanted to.  The two dynamic incoming guys will probably see decent minutes in support roles and could really be used to shore up the depth chart for the press we play.

However, if I were to redshirt one of these guys they'd be way ahead of the curve next year and I could potentially get 4 huge years out of them as starters, as they both will be next season.   However, it could potentially hurt any run we make this year.  I think it would probably be easier to redshirt the big, just because i have 2 of them coming in..but I'm curious to hear what others think.

I'd redshirt the guard if you had to redshirt anyone, but personally I wouldn't redshirt anyone in your situation. You have 4 already guards, so you could go 2 deep in both spots and be fine. You'd be 2 deep in the big spot, but having to rely on heavy minutes from a FR in the press could hurt if he gets in foul trouble the rest will be really tired. However, you need a SF and you'd likely be better off using a guard there in the press. Going 10 deep with the press also isn't the smartest thing, but sounds like you already know this.

Yeah my gut is telling me not to sacrifice the ability to make a good run this year for something that MIGHT exist in the future.  I was trying to pick up another big with the last scholly but I wasn't able to pull him away from a low level prestige D2 sim...had that worked I think it would be a no brainer.

I might redshirt the big and donate a lot of minutes to conditioning.  Not only will he be more talented for his first 2 years, he'll have more stamina to give you more minutes.  Plus he's going to be a beast, so 4 years of starting can't be bad...

rs the guard, 22 WE has no chance of even coming CLOSE to his caps, even with a rs season, might as well try to maximize his potential the best you can.
