Hey all.

I put some evals into a recruit last night and got the message saying I had more selling to do.  4 cycles later with NO MORE effort at all, I got another scholly email saying that I was his top choice and he wishes he could sign now.

Interesting part is nobody is on his considering list.  Yes, a scholly was offered from cycle 1.

Anyone else seen this?

Never seen it.  Any change in subsequent cycles?

I didn't want to risk it so I put 5 more evals and another home visit, got the same scholly email but got considered this time.  I didn't want to risk thinking I was good and then having another team come in because they see him with no considering teams.

I had this happen to me in Allen this past recruiting session. I got the backup message from a guy and when he fell to me I sent him a scholly and a HV and some calls. He said he liked what I said but still had to do some thinking. No commit. I put no more effort into him because I went after other players I liked better and then all of the sudden he sends me an email saying how he can't wait to play for me. But just like you I never showed up on his considering list. I filled all my schollys with other guys and he signed elsewhere but it was still very wierd.

I had a Russian player I put some effort into one season and offered a schol to not consider me. (D-I recruit and I was at a D-II school.) He didn't sign with anyone that season. Next season after playing at a US JUCO, he started the recruiting period considering me with no effort on my part at all. All I needed to do was offer the schol. I wound up not wanting him after all, but I've never signed a guy for $100 before. Seemed strange that he didn't consider me one season, but does the next with no effort.
