Coach Hiring - For the Minors Topic

As we all know, most owners try to pluck guys from lower levels and pull them up a level before they have demanded because they get a pretty decent coach and the offer is usually a slam-dunk.

My question is, has anyone tried to flip it around towards offering guys demanding a higher rank a lower level of job?

For instance, my world has a ton of ML PC and HC coaches and I highly doubt all of them will be signed.  Could I wait until the last 1/4 of the signing period and then offer them like a Low A, AA or AAA spot and would they accept?

The only times I have seen something like this work has been with filling a ML 1B spot by offering a guy that wanted a ML 3B spot the job at the last round of hiring.  He agreed so I had a ML 1B with 85 base-running for a year.

I ask this because I have a lot of good prospects in the Lo A and Hi A ranks and would love to give them some ML level coaches if it was at all possible.

You have to wait for all the jobs as the higher levels to fill before the ones looking for higher jobs will consider it.

You might get a AA to come to HiA if you offer something absurd like $1.5M ....but that's only for when it's your last coach, since you can't transfer <$2M out.

Iain's got it right.  More generally, you can sometimes get a guy to drop one level below his demands by offering a lot of cash (I've gotten a AAA demand to take AA for about $500K) , but I've never seen a two-level drop.  I've also never successfully done it offering less than the coach was demanding.

I might leave something open at LoA and see if I can get a ML coach to drop that low with all the $ I have left...will report back how it goes.
