1894 Jack Doyle, the Awsome Topic

He is a great value, excellent contact and hit rates. 1894 was a big time hitter's year which is impacted by normalizaton, but Jack Doyle is a great value

Thanks, I love these type of players.

I may try a 1891 Hugh Duffy and a 1899 Sam Mertes.

Mertes http://whatifsports.com/mlb-l/playerprofile.asp?ID=30750898&pl=0&type=1

Duffy http://whatifsports.com/mlb-l/playerprofile.asp?ID=30750897&pl=0&type=1

Not sure how they will work out, but these seem ok to try.

Here are a couple more great finds.  In  addition to the line below through the first 63 games ($80 MM OL), Hub Collins has 34 SB/43 SBA (on track for 80+ SB).  He has 7 + plays, no -. at SS  Also a very respectable OF'er.  To credit my source material, he was first recommended on the message boards by the almost equally awesome Boogerlips.

And look what amycox67 came up with.  Hope you don't mind my dipping into your roster, Amy.  Evans ($5.6 MM) has an unreal .405 BA/.482 OBP through 117 games, 12 + plays, no - plays and a .995 FPC.  I'm a believer.

where do we find the plus and minus plays?

fielding/extended in the 'team statistics' page, or you can just click on a player and it will be in his 'regualr season statistics'

The difference between Jack and the other players mentioned, is that Jack is a defensive stud, good for 30 or more + plays.

I've got your Shiny Rock in Exhibition Stadium in this league, which I rarely use.  Good for doubles, triples and HR's +2/+2/+1/+1 without being overly brutal on pitchers (1.07).  But I use Shiny Rock in most of my ballparks, and my favorites are Riverfront, which is a good pitcher's park (0.90) that still allows my sluggers to hit one out (+1/+1), AT&T (great triples park) and Yankee Stadium III (for my Babe Ruth teams, of course).

I have one that I like. Honestly, his stats have never been outstanding, but when I play this guy, my teams do well. 1917 Buck Weaver, SS. His D is stellar, all the time, but his hitting has always been a little on the light side.
