I drafted a SS who projected out to 87 overall with def ratings of 95 95 100 100 in the important def catagories. Once he goes on my roster he is down to 81 overall projected with something like 90 91 96 89 in def ratings and all his offensive projections are down as well. I assume this happens with everyones draft picks and int signings. What I want to know is why this happens and is there something I can do to lessen the drop.

It's the discrepancy between your HS/college scouts (who see prospects before the draft) and your advance scouts (who see them after the draft). The scouting department with the highest budget is *probably* the most accurate.

Yeah, the player's value remains precisely the same, you're basically just getting a 2nd opinion on him.

Your college/HS scouting is $8m and $6m, respectively.  Your advanced scouting is $18m.  You can pretty much ignore the pre-draft scouting.
