How much does probation hurt recruiting?

I'm currently a D3 school with "A" prestige and there is a D2 school with "C-" prestige who is on Probation (10/8). He's a little bit closer geographically, but it's close. The last scholarship message I got from the recruit was - "Coach, if this was a race, you'd be leading! Looking forward to the signing period."

Would the D2 school have to significantly outspend me moving forward in order to steal him away?

He could win it, but yeah he would likely have to out spend you. Not by a whole lot or anything, but he should have more funds to win it. It looks close based on that FSS
