Phelan Shootout XXV (D3 season 31) Topic

This will be the official thread for the D3 Phelan Shootout XXV, played during Season 31.

Since Shootout XXIV was cancelled, all Shooutout XXIII participants will be guaranteed a spot in Shootout XXV, as long as you desire to continue. I am hoping to get 8-10 teams back in the tourney, and start a waitlist going forward.

If you are interested in joining us, a great group of coaches with competitive teams, please post here or sitemail me. Also do not schedule any nonconference games in slot 3-10, in order to fit the tourney games.
Andersaa is taking over running this tourney for reddevil19.

Shootout XXIII Participants

Martin Luther- Longtime PSO member Jade1023 has moved up to D2 Lake Sup State

USCGA- (Confirmed) After 14 seasons in the PSO andersaa takes his turn running the tourney. USCGA once won 3 straight PSO championships in a row.

Mary Washington-rb9990 has been in PSO since XXI and has a young team that started playing very well together towards the end of season 29.

Hope- ixolabrat has been in the PSO since XXII. TheFlying Dutchmen have been getting better every season, and lone returning starter  Mosley will continue rising.

Rockford- Serb0649 has logged 10+ PSO seasons, and even won PSO XVII, And has the most dangerous young team in D3, he will be back to the Nat'l tourney again this season.

Wisconsin, Osh Kosh- uwrjl93's one PSO appearance was very successful. This UWOK team has not missed the playoffs in the last 10 seasons and will continue to shine in future seasons.

William  Paterson - reddevil19 has been the great tourney commish for a long time, keeping it one of the best tourney's in HD. Hopefully he stays on as a participant as the tourny progresses. Talk about longevity WPU has been to the Nat'l Tourney 20 or the past 23 season.

Richard Stockton - bigmanwes has also been in the tourney since way before I started. They had a bad year in season 29 and losing two top 5 all time scorers in Stockton history will not help. But bigmanwes has lead the team back many times.

Eastern-  tnto is another long time PSO participant, that has coached the Penn Athletic conference team since season 2. He has 17 Nat'l tourney bids so expect the team to continue on that preformance.

Blackburn - johnnyt joined us in PSO XVI, and has posted some great teams. Blackburn has been a consistant force in a very tough St. Louis Conference.

Colorado - Fatchance, the reigning two-time PSO champion coach did not renew leaving one of the best teams in D3. There is no doubt in Colorado Springs, that former Bapist Bible coach cmcalexander will keep the program title contenders going forward. I hope he enters the PSO again.

Wisconsin, Stout - Pumphead's UW,Stout team was on the waitlist to the PSO last season. He will now be a member going forward. They had the best season in school history last season and the majority of the team is still young.

I hope to have commitments done by the end of recruiting and the schedule up by season start.

Looks good so far.  I am in for the duration of the event.  I know bigmanwes will be in as well for this season, but I'm not sure how much longer he is going to go on.

Thanks for picking this up and keeping it going.

I'm definitely back again. Love the 'most dangerous young team in D3' comment. Hope we can live up to it.

A solid cast starting with a pair of bangers in the low post, SR Richard Arce (591) and JR William Smith (580), along with a pair of hard-nosed, sharpshooting guards, SR James Wood (520) and SO Michael Hightower (600), and a bench full of young talent look to surround the relentless and talented JR Paul Gillespie (713), as they begin thier hunt for a title.

Blackburn is back and ready to contend..

Hope is rebuilding, but we're committed to the tourny. We're gonna be the mad bombers this year!!

UW-Oshkosh just confirmed. Which gives us 8 confirmations.Just waiting on Eastern and Mary Washington.
9/29/2010 2:38 PM

I'll go post something in the Pennsylvania Conference forum for tnto.  After a few seasons, he assured me he is in as long as he is at Eastern and there is an event.  He always has scheduled his games without prodding so I would bet he is still good to go.
