Do injuries hurt WE? Topic

This is probably a bit of a silly post, but I'd appreciate it if you guys would indulge me.

Couple seasons back I signed one of my most tantalizing prospects ever - guy with very good starting ratings, very good potential, and of course a WE of just 11.  www.whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=0&pid=1559517

It was the last recruiting class before the new engine kicked in so I gambled even though the rumblings from the testers was that a guy like this might struggle.  So I figured I'd roll the dice, but also try to do whatever I could to get the WE to increase.  And I've also been tracking the gains pretty close.

As a freshman, I started the player whenever I played Sim AI and he finished the season starting 14 of 32 games and played 13.8 minutes per game.  The WE went from 11 to 13 (and the gain to 13 was close to the end of the season).

After redshirting him the season after, he began his third season sophomore season as a starter.  Which didn't last long because of after the first game of the season, he picked up an injury that knocked him down to 55%.  I put him on rest for the next four games and then plugged him back into the starting lineup.  For the season, he's been averaging 19.7 minutes a game.

I was getting super annoyed by the fact that it took 14 games as a starter for the WE go go from 13 to 14.  But after his 20th start last night, the WE jumped from 14 to 15.

I realize that it won't take as long to move from 14 to 15 as it would from 13 to 14, but the difference here seems pretty striking.  The only thing that I can figure is that putting him on rest for four games while he recovered from injury hurt the work ethic.

Anybody know if that's the case?

Did he lose any WE when you RSed him as a soph?

He accepted the redshirt without problem.

This obviously isn't the biggest deal in the world, but the only thing I can figure that caused the WE to take so long to start increasing this season is when he had to be rested due to injury.  And I don't see why an injury should impede WE growth.

My WE generally goes down after an injury. Heck, some of the people on my crew team in college actually quit after some lower back injury.
