Keeping a player from playing Topic

Done with the exhibition games and i have a player that I plan on redshirting, but I want to wait unitl a few games into the season.

I assume if I leave him off my depth chart that he won't play. Is this correct??

If incorrect, how do I assure that a player will not play in a game?

That's correct.

it SHOULD keep him off the floor.  he MAY be put in the game in emergency situations.  i have a had it happen once or twice because of foul trouble

Keep him off the depth chart and make sure the two buttons that play backups if the game is out of reach is turned off. He should not see playing time unless u have someone foul out of something weird like that.

Can I ask why you want to wait to redshirt the player?

Maybe he wants to see a few games and decide if he needs him first?  Also, doesn't a player advance quicker while not redshirted?  Perhaps a way to try to game the system and gain higher ratings gains than redshirting immediately?

The second thing idea is interesting. Does anyone know for certain whether a player not-redshirted but not playing will develop more quickly than one redshirted? Of course, if you just have him sitting on the bench, his work ethic is likely to fall pretty sharply (as I've had happen to one of my players).

Not usually for a Freshman, unless you made a minutes promise.

I do believe that seble has said there is no programming to make a recruit be more willing to accept a RS regardless of how many games he has not played in.  There is also no programing making him less likely to accept if he starts both exhibition games.

As far as gaining points, my experience is that guys who are not RS will gain more points than guys who are RS ... though I am not 100% sure that all of the advantage is not just related to playing time.  So, riding the bench with 0 minutes might be just like a RS in this regard.

It still makes sense to wait though WRT a WE drop.  If you remove and reapply the RS, you can likely get the WE drop down (or to zero), so it is not critical in my estimation ... but if you can't get the WE drop to zero it might be significant.

In GD, you can not RS a guy after week 7 starts ... is there any such limit in HD?

Redshirted him after Game 7. No problem. WE stayed the same (61).
