How do you play it? Topic

At moderate caps (like the standard $80 million), I usually try to get 3-4 really good hitters with the balance of my position players defense-first cheapos, playing for the Big Inning (or two).  I'm not looking for advice, just taking a poll: do you prefer that strategy, or more balance top-to-bottom in the lineup?

I guess I am looking for a bit more balance. I want a good top 4-5 and then I want a low-OBP power guy or two 6-7, and then a high-OBP guy or two 7-8 to set the table for the top of the lineup

When I build "regular" teams, I try to get three guys who can hit and bat them 2-4.   I look for one high slugging guy (bats 5) and then I try to get 4 (usually but not always CF, 2b,ss and C/3b) good fielders with decent OBP and juggle them around the 1 and 6-8 slots.   It takes a little micro managing but it makes it easier to draft  the PA.

The above is an example for my basic plan (it was $60 cap).  Parrish, Bell and Hayes hit (2-3-4), Kingman hit 5,  Duncan/Alomar/Knight all rotated in the 1,7,8 slots.  (I used a catcher platoon for the 6 whole).

I try to score more runs than the other team.

Here is an example of me scoring more than the other team.

take value wherever you find it. In most cases I end up with a semi-balanced team because the salary scale isn't linear. two $6M beats a $9M and a $3M

I heard that boogerlips wears a garter when he plays it.

*of course that may be a vicious rumor I am trying to start

I perfer balanced line-ups.  My thinking is that if you are drafting 4800 quality PA, on everage you'll need to swap out one of your regulars every game.  If I do use a more unbalanced approach I will only give an out away in the #8 spot.
