Players learn defense faster than offense? Topic

I was just looking over my Bryant team and noticed I had 2 sophomores who both have a B in offense and B+ in my D and both came in with F in both. Is this a common thing or is it dependent on the offense and defense, FWIW my D is zone and O is Triangle.

Well, since there are gradients one coudl have been a high f and the other a mid or low f. . .

f range is so small though.. seems like 5 minutes of practice changes you from f to d-

If there is some effect that cause IQ gains outside of the practice plan (which people have postulated based on players improving from F in unpracticed sets), it stands to reason that the effect would be more prominent on the defense than the offense.  This is simply because there are four offensive sets and three defensive sets.  Not sure if that completely explains it or just raises more questions, but there you go.

My guys are learning the D quicker too. We also play zone.

Zone has always been the D that is learned the quickest followed in order by M2M then Press. On the O side, I believe it goes Motion, FB, Triangle, then Flex. Perhaps another old time vet can confirm how TK set it up.

for my teams Motion offense has improved at the same exact pace as Man defense.
Triangle has also improved at the exact same pace as Man defense.
