I'm having trouble with who I should be targeting, with 3,000$ per recruit what are the best players/ratings I should go after?

I notice a lot more D2 recruits than D3 , should I be looking at any D2 players with a c- prestige?

Often, the D3 players are better than the lower D2 players.  Ignore the overall rating and look at the skill ratings. Go after players who match your philosophy.

When I was starting out, I looked at successful teams who had the same offense/defense as my team. I could tell by their roster which skills were more important to them and planned my team accordingly.

Might only actually recruit four players and take a walkon, so you can use the extra cash to secure good players.  Then, if you have cash left after your major targets are signed, go hunting for bargains or project players with high potential to fill that remaining slot.

also, at C- prestige, the guys you see as d2 players are likely viewed as d3 players by many many teams. Keep your eye out for high potential players (use FSS scouting or evaluation trips).

but the most important thing to say is: Be Patient.
don't spend your money too early, as there will be plenty of good players available late in recruiting, and less teams to battle for them.
