playing against full court press Topic

I normally have a pretty good team, but I very seldom can beat a full court press. Is there some setting I should be using or does it maybe have to do with conditioning. I don't really have a problem with any other defense.

i would think speed/ath and stamina would be the main factors in playing a fcp def. that and a great bh/passing team.

or just learn to shoot ft's - because they're gonna foul a lot more than any other def.

I'm not fantastic against press teams either, but I feel like you need at least 2 of the following 3 things to beat a press team:

1. Equal or better offense IQ's than they have in press. That's part of why it's so hard for very young teams to beat decent press teams.
2. Distro really slanted towards your best ballhandlers
3. Good stamina. I usually give poor-stamina players less mins against press teams than vs non-press teams.

This is probably an incomplete list, but it's a couple of things I focus on.

I emphasize three things when I'm playing a decent FCP team: Offensive IQ, BH and PA. I'll take a guy out of the starting lineup for a game if his backup has more of some/all of those three

Also sometimes I'll play a guard at the SF position and move my SF to the PF position

I used to believe that having bh/pa was important versus the press. I don't really think so anymore. It's all about matching the speed/ath imho. I used to have teams with athletic track stars and no cores beat my slower less athletic guys with high cores soundly.

Consider going uptempo vs. press if you can match their speed, stamina, and depth...their players will tire faster than yours(assuming you don't run press yourself).
