Is there any chance that I can provoke a veteran into quitting by redshirting him during the recruiting period ?

No. The only time that RS'ing someone will make them quite if it's a guy you just signed w. promises. (And even then, they'd quite because you broke your promise, not really because of the RS itself.)

You can simply rescind the schollie during recruiting though.

I got a So. to accept a RS on the 3rd try with no drop in his WE.  He is not very good and was recruited by the SIM the season before I took the team.

That was my first time RS anyone who was not a Fr., so I don't know how rare it is to get a So. to not drop his WE.
