I am incredibly confused about whats going on with my Lock Haven Naismith team. Through 5 games so far we are averaging 98.4 PPG and giving up 100! (although 2 games where OT one was already 107-107 going into OT). All the games so far have also had fouls like ive never seen before 32 per game committed by my team and 28 for. Teams are shooting a stunning 39.8 FTs per game against and Im still getting 35 myself.

Now I know Im running press and my IQs and Def arent really that great and its only been 5 games but these numbers are just absolutely ridiculous for any college team. And even with the press my team is only forcing 10.8 TOs per game. Whats the point of the press if its not even doing the one thing its supposed to?

1) Youre running uptempo which leads to more possessions; 2) You have 9 loweclassmen 3) 8 players playing press with B- or lower IQ 4) Several playing signficant minutes at D+.

The biggest change in the engine is the impact on IQ to press. Why in the world you'd play uptempo is beyong me; your FR are playing significant minutes and committing fouls as would be expected...there is really nothing suprising here.  My Kansas team last year had identical problems because of press related to IQ...come later in the season you should start to see improvements.

Hate to be so blunt here, but it's pretty clear why you're struggling.  Do you ever read the pbp?  If so, how could you miss how EXTREMELY fatigued your kids are.  You're R/S 1 kid, and another is a walkon getting little minutes.  So, you're playing FCP, uptempo with 10 players, 7 of which are freshmen or sophomores, who have relatively poor stamina (esp. for the fcp), and whose IQ's and DEF ratings aren't to the level needed for the FCP in the new engine. Further, you're not playing pushovers and are getting outrebounded on both ends of the court, leading to more "touches" for the other team and more chances for you to hack away, esp. when your guys are gassed.  Add it all up, and it's a recipe for losing some games you think you should win.  The FCP can still be effective, but you definitely have to have the right horses to do it with now, and I think you fall short in those categories I mentioned above.

Edit:  Ha, guess mmt beat me to it, but the same elements clearly stuck out to both of us.

I know those things are true but my issue is really more just how absurd those totals really are for college teams.

what if someone tried to go uptempo, full court press with 7 FR and SO......with limited stamina?  could get results sorta like that

Maybe real college teams have better coaches

It's absurd because no coach would keep running uptempo when all their players are grabbing their shirts. The growing problem here is that coaches are running extreme gameplans in hd much more often than coaches do in rl and seble still humors these threads and adjust totals to match rl when the results of an unreal gameplan should have an unreal result.

All of the stuff that has been pointed out + your D ratings are pretty bad, you have 2 guys in the 60s 2 others in the 50s and everybody else below that. I definitely think you should be struggling to get stops with your youth and poor D ratings.

Tbh, your results should be a lot worse.

exhaustion + bad def ratings + low IQ + uptempo press = give up 100 ppg.
