Sim's use of mopup Topic

So two games in a row now the sim has screwed me by using my mopup guy in high leverage situations when I had multiple other relievers rested at 100%.  Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?

The first game we were losing 5-4 at home going into the the 8th.  Sim brings in my mopup guy to pitch and he gives up four runs.

And the second game was even worse:  Sim brings my mopop guy in to pitch the top of the 8th with the game tied.  Dude gives up three runs.  Then simmy leaves him in to pitch one out in the 9th.

What gives?  I have him set as my mopup, but I do not have my mopup set to be used only when losing.  I thought that he would only be used in blowouts of some sort, not when the game is either tied or with a one-run lead.

Sounds like a glitch.  Send a ticket.

Mopup - The mop up setting is used to designate a pitcher to be used in blowouts (either winning or losing). Blowout is determined by the deficit (or lead) and the inning, e.g. an 8 run deficit in the 2nd inning would not be considered a blowout, but the same deficit in the 8th inning would be. Mop up designated pitchers could possibly be used in non-mop up situations. They will always be used before pitchers marked as 'rest'. For example, if you have 5 relievers and 1 is marked as rest, 1 is marked as mop up, 1 is marked as long relief, 1 is marked as setup and the last as your closer, and your game went to extra innings, if your closer, setup, and long relief had already been used, then your mop up pitcher would see action.

I think mopup has a  higher priority than specialists.  It looks like the guy who came in after him each time is a left-handed specialist, with a RH batter coming to the plate when the mopup came in.  It also will go to a mopup first if your closers settings don't allow for him to come in.

Perhaps.   The help section makes no mention of specialists and, as we know, the specialist setting is a random usage at best.

Maybe.  But I do not use my closer in save situation only, and both times I had the closer plus SubB pitchers who were rested and available, and in the second instance I had my SubA pitcher available as well.

I tooke MikeT's advice and submitted a ticket; this seems like a misuse of the mopup to me.  But maybe I am wrong -- if so, I'll post whatever answer admin gives me, which almost guarantees that I will end up looking like an idiot.

"I will end up looking like an idiot"

At least you're in the right place for that.
