Front loaded contracts Topic

Trying to do some long term budget planning, and would appreciate some advice.

I know there are percent or dollar limitations in back loading contracts, but are there for front loaded as well?  I'd like to get an impact FA for one of my teams and can offer max with bonus in first year, but will have less financial wiggle room in years 3 or so on down.  Is there a percentage limit to decreasing the value offered over time?

On the page that you are negotiating on there is a help link. Click it and scroll down about halfway.

Depending on legnth of contract, there are minimum and maximum % of the entire contract's worth.

but remember you can give a bonus which isnt factored in, and in essence frontloads a ton of the money into Year 1.

+1.  That's the way to go if you've got the finances in the current year.

Another advantage to front-loading contracts is your asset becomes more valuable over time for trading purposes should the need arise.  (This assumes relatively stable ratings over the contract duration).

If possible I tend to try to front-load if my budget will allow it.

It is stupid that they prevent massive front-loading, IMO.  If you have the cap room for it in the current season, it should be allowed, even if you don't use a bonus.
